in the middle of nowhere

-

a strong wind 

brings down a tree 


its branches break 

roots upheave

soil stirs

cloud of dust


its life is in 

the rings 

its red leaves now 

brown


crumbling 

crisp 

crunch 

back to earth 

ready to grow again.
