Picture It

Perhaps one of the most well-known and iconic symbols in this photo is the shopping cart. Invented in the 1930s by an American grocery store owner, the shopping cart was designed to help customers consume -- to carry items from stock shelves to store checkouts. In the photo below, the shopping cart serves as a reminder of how consumption leads to waste.
