Hmmm... I'm dancing.

I've been dancing ever since I was young. No, I've never had dance lessons. But I've always loved to dance. When I hear music, my body naturally wants to move and groove to the tunes! This morning, I can't stop dancing to Brett Kissel's new song, featuring 98 Degrees. 

So, turn up the music and dance with me!

My answer: There are so many great songs. A favourite of mine is Cass Elliot's "Dream A Little Dream of Me". 

Happy International Women's Day!

As a woman, I've always made learning and going to school a priority. But going to school is a privilege and luxury not all women are afforded. Keisha N. Blain (2019) states: 

From a global perspective, one of the biggest challenges facing women is educational inequality. Despite the many gains of modern feminist movements in the Americas, Africa, Asia and beyond, many still believe that women are less worthy of the same educational opportunities afforded to men. While there is no denying that poverty, geography and other factors contribute to huge disparities in education, patriarchy justifies this denial of opportunity. It feeds the message that men should wield the power and women should occupy a subordinate position in all areas of society. This outdated, yet persistent, point of view fuels educational inequality and a host of other disparities along the lines of gender on national and international levels. 

Support women in your life by encouraging them to pursue (higher) education.

Today, I found a photograph my brother took of me a few years ago. This photo has been photoshopped to make me look like a 1940s pin-up girl. 

Saturday Night at the Movies

James Stewart's performance as Elwood P. Dowd in the 1950 film "Harvey" is simply incredible. Stewart is such a smooth actor. I could watch him for hours and never be bored.

Mental health issues are central to the film "Harvey". The characters talk about Dowd having mental health problems. There is even talk about what to do about it. There are some problematic scenes for sure, like in many classic pictures. But this movie does remain a favourite of mine, with the film ending on a note of acceptance. 

A quote from the film: 

Elwood P. Dowd: I plan to leave, you want me to stay. Oh, an element of conflict in any discussion is a very good thing. It shows everybody is taking part and nobody is left out. I like that.
